The event commenced with a captivating performance by Nadja Von Zyl, a multi-talented individual who not only excels in hairdressing but also possesses an extraordinary opera-worthy voice. Taking charge as the event's MC was Liezl Joubert from The Marketing Desk, setting the stage for an informative and engaging day.

Introducing the Owners of Overstrand Aesthetics:

Sarel and Ronel, a dynamic husband-wife duo, have realised their dreams by transforming them into a thriving business venture. Sarel's innovative business concept and highlighting a need for Biomedical Emporium products, coupled with Ronel's deep passion for pharmaceuticals and aesthetics, revealed a promising business opportunity.

Their mission, beyond business success, centres on enriching the lives of the Hermanus community. Their shared vision for Hermanus reflects not only their entrepreneurial spirit but also their profound commitment to making a positive impact in this picturesque coastal town. Notably, all profits from the event were generously donated to Overstrand Hospice.

Charlotté Jansen van Vuren Provides Gut Health Insights:

Following Ronel's opening address, where she eloquently expressed the importance of inner beauty radiating outward and the significance of community support, the first speaker, Charlotté Jansen van Vuren, a Registered Dietitian from Nutrigist, took the stage. She illuminated the audience on the critical role of nutrition in beauty and wellness. Charlotté's insightful talk covered various factors influencing skin health, including the healing properties of essential nutrients, the intricate gut-skin connection, and the impact of inflammation. Attendees gained valuable knowledge on dietary choices, with a focus on incorporating fermented foods, collagen, vitamins E and C, zinc, and Omega 3 into their diets in ways that nutrients are readily available for digestion – through methods like soaking grains, or by consuming sprouted beans.

Dr. Judey Pretorius Gives Valuable Skincare Advice:

The second speaker, Dr. Judey Pretorius, a distinguished skincare scientist holding a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and the Founder of Biomedical Emporium, graced the audience with her extensive knowledge. Her expertise has established her as a prominent figure in the South African skincare landscape. Dr. Pretorius delivered an enlightening talk, addressing various skincare concerns, including pigmentation, acne, and dry and sensitive skin, as well as offering strategies to combat deep lines and wrinkles. She shed light on the significance of skin pH and dispelled myths surrounding excessive scrubbing, emphasising the importance of gentle care.

Inspiration from Miss World 2014 Rolene Strauss:

The final speaker, Rolene Strauss, captivated the audience with her multifaceted achievements, humility, and elegance that extended beyond her Miss World 2014 title. Rolene is not just a beauty queen; she is a wife, a mother, a qualified doctor, a transformation coach, an entrepreneur, an author, and an inspirational figure. Her mission is to tackle the daily challenges faced by women in a practical and relatable manner. Rolene highlighted the complexity of being a woman, juggling expectations to be strong like a man and graceful like a lady while working tirelessly. 

Her speech encouraged the audience to redefine their self-perception and detach their worth from external achievements or appearances. Drawing from her personal journey, she emphasised that true identity lies within one's spirit, transcending physical attributes or accomplishments. Her message left the audience feeling empowered, reminding them of their intrinsic worth and potential for growth. Rolene also shared a powerful metaphor involving sunflowers to underscore the importance of surrounding oneself with supportive influences and making a positive impact on others. She beautifully illustrated the significance of building others up, mirroring the tale of the farmer who wins with the best sunflowers every year.  This farmer shares seeds from her own prize-winning sunflowers with neighbouring farms, so that her flowers can be cross-pollinated by the beautiful sunflowers of her neighbours.

Throughout the event, numerous incredible prizes were awarded, each with a total value exceeding R20,000. These prizes included:

Sarel brought the event to a close, expressing heartfelt gratitude to all attendees and commending the exquisite beauty of Hermanus. In his words, "It's such a special place. It's heaven on earth. The decision to start Overstrand Aesthetics in Hermanus was meant to be."
